Video Editor

Trim a video clip and export it as MP4 or WebM, or turn any segment into an animated GIF — all in your browser. Nothing is uploaded: the file is decoded, cut and re-encoded on your own machine.

Who This Is For

Produce a silent loop for a presentation

Use the GIF tab for a short, muted animation that plays in any slide deck without a video player.

Make a looping GIF from a few seconds of footage

Trim to the exact moment, set 480 px at 12 fps, and download a GIF small enough for a chat thread or a documentation page.

Prepare footage for another editor

Cut the useful range out of a large file and hand the smaller clip to a desktop timeline instead of importing everything.

Key Terms

Container
The file wrapper — MP4, WebM or Ogg — that holds a video stream, an audio stream and metadata such as duration and resolution.
Trim
Removing the parts of a clip before the start point and after the end point, leaving one continuous segment without touching what remains.
Dithering
Mixing pixels from the available palette to imitate colours the format cannot hold. It smooths gradients in photographs and adds visible noise to flat captures.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the video uploaded to a server?

No. The file is opened as a local object URL and processed by the browser's own media APIs. Trimming, conversion and GIF encoding all happen on your device, and no copy is stored or queued anywhere else.

Why does my GIF look grainy compared with the video?

GIF stores at most 256 colours per frame, so an encoder has to approximate every frame of full-colour video. A smaller width hides this better than a large one, since the same palette then covers fewer pixels. Use dithering for smooth gradients and turn it off for flat interface captures.

Can I export more than one clip from the same file?

Yes. The loaded file stays in memory while you work, so you can cut one segment, download it, move the sliders to another range and convert again without selecting the source a second time.

How do I trim a video without installing software?

Drop the file onto the page, move the start and end sliders until the duration readout shows the segment you want, then export the clip as MP4 or WebM. The whole operation runs in the browser, so there is nothing to install and no account to create.

Which formats can I load and which can I export?

Input is anything the browser can decode — MP4, WebM, OGG, MOV and AVI are named in the interface. Output for video is MP4 or WebM, and the GIF tab writes an animated GIF of the selected range.
